Introduction to Manual Handling; The Basics course equips support workers in disability and aged care services with essential skills for safe and effective manual handling. Covering key topics such as fundamental principles, anatomy and biomechanics and risk assessment. Support workers are trained to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement control measures to prevent injuries. Guidance on handling emergency situations, such as falls, is provided to enhance caregiver preparedness. Caregivers learn proper techniques for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, as well as discussing the safe use of assistive devices. Emphasis is placed on clear communication, teamwork, and ensuring client comfort and dignity.
